Week 14

Finally broke down and bought myself a belly band. Those pesky work pants are just a little too well-fitted and I was having to unbutton my pants under my shirt periodically during the day. What I love best about this product is the woman who invented it got the idea by using a tube top to hold up her pants at home. Brilliant!

Development at 14 weeks:

- Baby is the size of a lemon
- Baby can pee, grimace and suck thumb
- Neck elongates and body becomes more proportional to head
- Liver makes bile and spleen filters RBCs
- Lanugo (fine downy hair) covers body

  1. How does the belly band work? You wear your nonmaternity pants unbuttoned (and unzipped?) and the belly band keeps everything from falling down? Truly ingenious! What color?

  2. Yeah, that's pretty much how it works. It's elastic and has a tighter band on either side of the tube. Right now I wear it folded over so the tighter part keeps my pants in place (they're zipped but not buttoned). Then you can open the tube to cover your whole belly when you don't want your belly button poking out from under your shirts! It also holds up maternity clothes if you haven't quite grown into them yet.

I've got a black one and a white one so they just look like a tank top poking out the bottom of my shirt.

    The mysteries of maternity...
